New Moon in Pisces | March 2022

Hope and luck are on their way, but there are plenty of obstacles to overcome and challenges to work through.

That’s the gist of Tuesday’s New Moon in Pisces, which occurs at 12:34 PM EST at 12° Pisces.

What does the New Moon in Pisces mean?

The 2022 New Moon in Pisces is always dreamy and imaginative, but this year, we are blessed by having Jupiter in Pisces so close by.

Jupiter is currently at 14° Pisces, giving this lunar cycle a very Jupiterian quality: generosity, abundance and optimism are infused into the next 28 days. Pisces is a water sign, which emphasizes our feelings, emotions and inner depths. Watch out for your emotions to be heightened and extra loud on this day. You might experience some big ups and downs.

This is a great day to lean on ritual, magic and divination for extra support. Jupiter loves a ceremony, so why not put on a velvet jumpsuit and make some magic? The Sphere + Sundry Guide to working with Jupiter is my favourite resource for working with Jupiter and a perfect place to start.

This year’s New Moon in Pisces isn’t all sunshine and roses, however (although we might be tempted to wear rose-coloured glasses). There are two challenging transits happening at the same time that will rain our Jupiterian parade.

Mercury conjunct Saturn in Aquarius

A few months ago, Mercury stationed retrograde a few degrees away with Saturn. On March 2, Mercury finally completes the conjunction, bringing resolution to the things you started back around January 13th.

Mercury conjunct Saturn has a very serious tone. Our thoughts and communication might be restricted, as we carefully consider our words. This is a great time for bringing logic and rigour to the details of our plans. But in doing so, those plans are tested, limits are revealed. Saturn brings about reality checks and reveals the obstacles between where we are and where we want to be.

This is a great time to review your current routines, obligations and responsibilities, and think about what you might release to create more room in your life for what nourishes your soul.

You could pair this New Moon with a ritual for cleansing/releasing and coming back to yourself. Happening at the end of the astrological year, this is a beautiful time to wrap up the past 12 months and lay what isn’t serving you on the metaphorical fire.

Mars and Venus conjunct Pluto

This is one of the most important and dramatic transits of the month, and it tones the entire lunar cycle to come. Pluto often brings up themes that have been suppressed, hidden or ignored. Watch out for secrets or hidden things suddenly being revealed or requiring your attention. Pluto can help you transform old pain and grief, but first, you must witness it.

This conjunction represents the conclusion of a months-long cycle between Venus and Pluto, due to Venus’ retrograde cycle. Whatever began around December 11, 2021, is now being wrapped up — for better or worse.

Today might bring forward some uncomfortable truths or force you to confront something you’d rather avoid. But with Mars in the mix, you have the energy and drive to take decisive action and move forward towards your goal. If the Venus retrograde has revealed a decision you need to make or an issue that needs to be addressed, this lunar cycle is a great time to make that happen.
