Virgo Season Astrology Forecast

Ahhh, Virgo season. Also known as “Oh shit, summer is almost over" season. Also known as “Fuck yeah, it’s almost fall” season.

This year, Virgo season is actually pretty quiet, from an astrological perspective. Sure, a couple of planets change signs and Mercury stations retrograde, but compared to the extreme turbulence of Leo Season, this next month brings some productive energy — thank goodness!

This is a month to clean up after the events of the past month. Time to look at what habits, structures and rhythms in your life need tweaking and changing. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by all the changes in your life, Virgo energy can help you get back on track.

Discover how Virgo season will affect you with a Cosmic Check-In. This session will help you understand what energies and events you’ll encounter this fall, so you can be prepared for what is to come.

August 25 — Mercury enters Libra

Luckily, Mercury moves into Libra, where it is able to sweet-talk its way out of anything. Mercury in Libra is a diplomat, able to wield its words with careful precision. Mercury in Libra is very good at reading a room, smoothing over social faux pas, and engaging in fun conversations about beauty, ideas, art and culture. Mercury in Libra is the ultimate dinner party host, swooping in to refill a glass and ensure everyone is included in the conversation.

Mercury retrograde alert! Mercury will station retrograde at 8°55’ Libra on September 9. Mercury will move back into Virgo on September 23 before stationing direct on October 2. Pay attention to what begins in your life around August 25th, especially when it comes to things like contracts, communication-based projects, or finances. There will likely be a change or reversal about these topics during the retrograde.

August 27 — New Moon at 4° Virgo

The August New Moon has big “back to school” energy. The New Moon in Virgo is a beautiful time for energetic refreshes and resets. As a mutable earth sign, Virgo is all about how we use our resources and connect to the physical, material and embodied worlds around us. Use this New Moon energy to clear out the clutter from your life: whether it’s cleaning out the junk drawer in your kitchen or trying to shift some of your old patterns, review what is and isn’t working in your life. And then make a plan for how you can use this lunar cycle to work towards your plan.

This is a great time to review plans, schedules, and logistics, especially around your day-to-day lifestyle habits. Virgo loves to dive into the details and see where there can be efficiencies in the system. Lean into this energy, however, it is showing up for you right now.

This New Moon takes place in a square to Mars in Gemini. This gives the New Moon a very productive edge to it. However, beware of trying to take on too much at once. Mars in Gemini tries to do everything, all at once — which can lead to a lot of wheels spinning and not a lot of progress. You might get a lot of ideas and inspiration on this New Moon, but try to only pick one or two tasks to focus on. Otherwise, you might bite off more than you can chew and end up judging yourself for not being able to accomplish your goals.

August 28 — Venus opposite Saturn

If you let yourself go a little wild yesterday, Saturn will quickly remind you of the consequences of your actions. Venus's job is to create pleasure, beauty, and fun, while Saturn's job is to set limits and say no so that we don’t go too wild. If the Venus square Uranus ignited a new desire, Venus opposite Saturn might make you think about all the ways you can’t have what you want.

Sometimes, Venus opposite Saturn can make you feel unworthy and unlovable, as you turn Saturn's critical gaze on yourself — or your loved ones. Try to give everyone (including yourself!) extra grace today — and try not to take things personally. If someone is gruff or short with you, remember that they are probably feeling this transit, too.

Because this transit is active in the New Moon chart, you might find that this whole lunar cycle invokes themes of desire vs reality, what you want vs what you can actually have. You might find yourself confronted by limits and forced to choose one thing out of multiple options.

September 5 — Venus enters Virgo

Today, Venus enters Virgo, a part of the zodiac where she tends to struggle to be her easy-breezy self. Virgo is a mutable earth sign, ruled by Mercury, and Venus and Mercury have very different vibes. Mercury loves to deconstruct and analyze all the details, and it can be hard for Venus to relax and chill and focus on pleasure when in this detail-oriented sign because she sees all of the imperfections and everything that still needs to be fixed.

While Venus is in Virgo, You might find yourself obsessing over the details and feeling extra critical of yourself and others. Try to use this power of refinement to improve your surroundings or make progress towards your goals, rather than beating yourself up for not already being done.

This is a great moment to review our daily routines and rituals Where might you bring a little more efficiency and refinement in the small moments? What are the tiny tweaks we can make to improve our quality of life? Venus in Virgo doesn’t want you to start something new or go out and buy new things — it wants you to work with what you already have and see where there can be improvements. The trick is to not let this quest for improvement turn into self-criticism.

Think about what House contains Virgo in your chart. Where does that part of your life need cleaning up? How might you pair beauty and organization?

September 10 — Full Moon at 17° Pisces, Mercury stations retrograde

At 6 am (EDT) we have a Full Moon in Pisces. This Full Moon highlights the Virgo/Pisces axis in our birth charts and brings up themes of skepticism vs faith, and details vs the big picture. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is all about what we are doing with the resources at hand and how we are utilizing the tools at our disposal. Meanwhile, Pisces, ruled by Jupiter, is about the big-picture vision: what is our destination? What is the point of working so hard?

Pisces Full Moons always feel really dreamy, intuitive and psychic for me, but this one takes place close to Neptune, which makes it feel even dreamier and foggier. This is a time to go deep inside of ourselves and get into touch with our imagination. Make art, dance to your favourite music, do some energy work, or say hello to a deity. This is a beautiful moment to listen with all of your senses and see what new information comes up.

Think back to what started for you on the New Moon in Pisces — what has grown and changed since that time? What seeds did you plant back then that are now ready to be harvested?

But wait, there’s more! Mercury stations retrograde, which gives the whole day a kind of crunchy feeling. You’ll most likely start feeling the retrograde vibes on September 7, and then the tension builds until today.

Plan for things to go a little haywire today. Give yourself lots of extra time and space, especially if you have multiple projects and deadlines on the go. If you can, this is a great time to clear your schedule and take it easy.

September 16 — Venus square Mars, Sun opposite Neptune

Today is a bit of a weird day, with two very different transits occurring.

Venus in Virgo square Mars in Gemini is a feisty transit that is sure to stimulate our minds. Venus and Mars transits often bring up themes of war and peace: how we solve problems, how we stand up for ourselves, and how we negotiate with other people. Mars is separation, while Venus is union — when these planets form a square to each other, we get tension and conflict between these competing desires.

With both these planets in Mercury-ruled signs, you might be inclined to fight with your words or to fight over the small details. A bit of tension (whether sexual or creative) goes a long way to creating new work, breaking through constraints, of getting the ball rolling when we've been dragging our feet. But it can also incline us towards hostility, anger and aggression. Be careful that you aren't so set on achieving your goals that you don't care who you hurt along the way.

Meanwhile, the Sun in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces, making us think about what we are fighting for. Both the Sun and Neptune bring up themes of higher purpose. The Sun is our ideal vision of ourselves and the world, while Neptune can make us very sensitive to the needs of the collective. A fog might settle over you today, making your goals, ambition, and willpower feel a little hazy. It's a good time to slow down, but remain critical — don't necessarily believe the hype. Follow your own decision-making process. It's ok to change your mind once you learn new information, and it's ok for your opinions to be in process.

Virgo season can be pretty polarizing for people! Some folks hate summer and are excited for the cooler days and cute sweaters. Other people dread the autumn and the coming winter it represents.
