Mars in Aries | May 25 - July 5, 2022

Mars enters Aries with a bang! Aries is one of Mars’ home signs, and it has a lot of energy, power and motivation while in this fiery, cardinal sign. Aries is the energy of initiation, new beginnings, and spring. Mars is the warrior, taking on the world and bringing the fight (with or without a cause).

What to expect when Mars is in Aries

Mars joins Venus and Jupiter in Aries, putting a lot of emphasis on the House that contains Aries in our charts. Mars agitates and motivates. It spurs us on, it adds heat and excitement. It gets things going. Watch out for the House that contains Aries to get really active and busy for the next six weeks. If things have felt a little stuck or stagnant in your life, Mars in Aries can help you get the motivation and willpower to finally make a change.

If things have felt a little stuck or stagnant in your life, Mars in Aries can help you get the motivation and willpower to finally make a change.

The downside is that Mars in Aries can also make us feel restless, irritable and prone to lash out. Tempers flare, and sharp words are exchanged. In the world/news/politics, this might look like protests, uprisings, calls for revolution, and state violence. Be mindful of your own tendency to leap towards force as a means to achieve your goals. Where are you spending unnecessary energy? Where are you pushing when you could be asking? How might you balance out all of this Fire energy?

  • Mars will be in Aries from May 25 to July 5, 2022.

Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aries - May 29, 2022

Mars conjunct Jupiter turns up the heat. Mars is the planet of movement, action, drive and separation, while Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion. Mars is always powerful in Aries, but when it conjuncts Jupiter, its fiery energy gets turned up to 100.

At the global level, Mars conjunct Jupiter might intensify displays of nationalism and a “might makes right” mentality. Mars represents the military and Jupiter represents institutions of power, so watch out for displays of strength and grandiosity. It’s possible that the days before and after this transit are marked by increased violence and tension in the world. Political extremism, controversy and self-righteousness abound when the warrior and the expander come together. Beware of politicians making absurd arguments meant to inspire a reaction, rather than level-headed debate.

There could also be conflicts (Mars) over ideology and beliefs (Jupiter), particularly ones rooted in religious or philosophical differences. Jupiter can be quite bombastic and grandiose, and Mars likes to win arguments and take no prisoners. You might find yourself feeling defensive of your beliefs or called to speak up to defend something you care about. I am a firm believer in speaking truth to power and calling out abusive/problematic behaviour when it happens, don’t get me wrong. Just beware that whoever you are calling out will also feel very defensive and reactive right now — so you might just butt heads without a solution. This is not a great day to change minds with well-reasoned arguments, but it is a great day to get into a shouting match with someone who likes Jordan Peterson.

You might have a lot of energy right now, but your time and energy are finite. Try not to overcommit. Pace yourself.

On a personal level, Mars and Jupiter can leave you feeling swept up in a cause, or even losing yourself in a work project. Mars-Jupiter in Aries wants to burn the candle at both ends — it’s a sprinter, not a marathoner. You might have a lot of energy right now, but your time and energy are finite. Try not to overcommit. Pace yourself.

This transit can make you extra competitive, combative or bombastic. You might find yourself feeling extra aggressive or tense on this day. Your actions might be guided by higher ideals right now, but be sure you don’t take yourself too seriously — try to maintain a sense of humour.
